>UBI is a fantasy.
Useless people will eventually be culled. Abortion, and career women high-risk pregnancies are just step one. The suggestion. Infertility, and sterility, low sperm count, will be the nudge; and the shove, laws and licenses regulating reproduction, come later.

Assuming your offspring survive the culling, Then there will be nano medical tech/AI keeping us alive indefinitely, and perhaps a UBI, but more likely t the supply/demand price chart breaks down because we can produce effective infinite supply of goods via 3D printing, and infinite supply of services via AI, and therefore no reason to charge or pay for most goods and services.

We then turn to the stars out of boredom, and Boldy Go Were No Man Has Gone Before. It's all been scripted out already.

Okay but you didn't answer the question. UBI would cost the government (i.e. taxpayers) an additional 3 trillion (250 million x $12,000) each year, the current federal budget is 3.3 trillion alone and that's counting every single service the federal government right now performs. A 10% additional sales tax (that's basically what VAT is with the distinction that it affects unsold merchandise as well iirc) is not going to pay for it, it will increase costs though as Yang admits himself.

https://www.yang2020.com/what-is-ubi/

>Our UBI plan has no changes in the supply of money because it is funded by a Value-added Tax.

Sales tax revenue in the U.S. is under 600 billion at an average of 7.9%. There is no way that a 10% VAT fills that gap

>It is likely that some companies will increase their prices in response to people having more buying power, and a VAT would also increase prices marginally

>some companies
>marginally

No shit, dude.

>However, there will still be competition between firms that will keep prices in check

As happened with every other universal government program (like forcing banks to honor loans hedged against dubious and ludicrously expensive college degrees) and even more selective ones like Medicare, the price floor itself will expand rapidly against inflation.

my main problem with his arguments is that i deal with niggers and other trash on a regular basis. they'll spend that $1000 on crack and jordans on the first day of the fucking month. the next 30 they'll be out begging for someone to buy them food and pay their bills. it won't solve fucking anything at all. it won't replace any social programs.

We need a single tax on land. remove all sales, income, vice, and other taxes. tax fucking land and nothing else. no loopholes. market based. opt out if you want. progessive. not theft.

Adam Smith proposed a system of ground rents in 'Wealth of nations'. It made sense then and it makes sense now.

According to Yang himself the proposed 10% VAT would pay for a little over 25%~ of the proposed 3 trillion needed (800 billion) so they'd need to get around 75%~ of it from additional income taxes (2.20 trillion). Current income taxes account for 1.4 trillion of our 3.3 trillion total federal budget so you'd need to increase income taxes by about 85% of what they are now to keep up, almost doubling them.

>85% higher taxes out of your paycheck
>10% higher cost on all goods and services (that's just year one)

I read his "thesis" on his website. Just because someone ostensibly smart writes something doesn't mean they're immune from being retarded. For example, apart from the VAT:

>Andrew proposes funding UBI by consolidating some welfare programs

He mentions giving the current recipients of welfare and other services a choice between UBI and their current benefits (guess which one they'll pick, if you said "whatever pays more", you're right!). How does this reduce bureaucracy when you're still going to have people on Social Security making $1,300 (average) and still needing the staff to both distribute and account for these funds? It doesn't.

The rest of the document is pure utopian conjecture

>if we gave everyone $1,000 a month no one would go to jail or the hospital xd

The fact he actually wrote as much is stunning, and the fact he attributes 1 trillion dollars in savings to that whimsical notion is perhaps even moreso.

The problem with UBI is that it forces workers to work for free.

Hi farmer Bob! I did nothing for you but here's $50 I took from Johnny so I can eat your apples but you can spend that to buy Johnny's oranges.

If you want my apples at least put some effort if you can. Universal job guarantee is more fair to workers until productivity really swings up and charity becomes convenient enough for basic income programs.

the issue stems from the fallacy that every person deserves to live a comfortable life regardless of what they do.

the solution isn't to steal money from valuable people and businesses, only for their money to come back to sell goods to them. it just means they're giving away their work for free. automation makes it even simpler to maintain production at the limit of what the worthy population can afford, and does wonders for providing automated security/segregation of the large useless population while the rest of society waits for them to die, and the population to shrink back to manageable levels.
