Instead of it taking over your life and dooming you every time you do it, it can be a way to release stress and can be enjoyed.

It's like the difference in consuming a couple of alcoholic drinks once a week/once a month and drinking ten drinks a day. The alcoholic who swears off drinking, but relapses probably feels way worse than the alcoholic who learns that they can enjoy a drink on occasion. They still imbibe as it is enjoyable (hence why they did it in the first place), but they control when and have the power over the drink rather than the drink having the power over them (and thus making them feel shame when they even have a drink, feeling like they failed and go back to drinking excessively).

It can be viewed as either enjoying it and having the power over what causes you guilt with excessive use or as a form of harm reduction.
