I'm from village too. My parents were lucky to be PNS (government workers) because otherwise we would be homeless - they lived in government provided house all their life. Saved money all their life to buy house (house is taken away once they retire).

I learned coding by myself to the point that I got bad grades at school.
I remember my first salary in Indonesia was around $180 a month. That's as a software engineer. Definitely started worse than OP in terms of salary, but I started in tech industry which I believed would go parabolic salary-wise as I gain more and more experience.

2 years working $180/month job was enough to save money to try working abroad.
I tried Singapore, however I failed interviews over and over again. 2 years of experience was nothing at that time.
Common rejection reason was "You don't have enough experience yet"

I ended up in Malaysia, which is kind of middle ground between the developed Singapore and shithole Indonesia.
I worked for very small startup.
I started socializing, drinking, improving my English
I worked for around 4 years
My salary range during my work in Malaysia was $1300-1500/month
That was like 7x-8x my original salary.

With 5-6 years coding experience I gave Singapore another try.
Failed over and over again.
Common rejection reason was "Your salary expectation is too high"

Fuck it.
I quit my job in Malaysia and went to Japan with all the money I saved.
The reasons for Japan: Declining population. IT workers shortage. Developed country.
Learned Japanese language and applied here and there for months while bleeding my savings.
I got my first job with around 450k yen/month (about $4100/month) salary
Yep, doubled/tripled my previous salary.

A few more years of experience in Japan, I now earn more than 1 million yen/month or basically six figure +$100,000/year in burgers term.
Still same job, just programmer. Not managing anyone.
I feel like I'm topping out in terms of salary. So I started getting into crypto and trading (I trade mostly on Binance and Buttmex)
I also started enjoying life by fucking around. (I didn't have enough love/sex life since I chased money all my life)
Will consider marrying someone if I get comfortable.
Oh and my American dream was already dead when Trump was elected.

The only advantage that I think I have over OP is I have no medical condition while OP has.

programming may be a meme job based on a lot of /biz/fags' opinions but it does pay. you start with html/css which is easier, then move to javascript or python.
