>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, Ratsu has the IQ of swiss cheese, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

BTC is not private or fungible.

What use does a large corporate entity or institution have with a coin that can be analysed through chain analysis so that their competitors, foreign governments, or other bad actors can analyse all of their transactions data?

Information leaked includes relationships, supply chains, profit and loss information, accumulated wealth, and more.

For people serious about Business Monero is the answer. Data mining will be a serious issue for commercial deployments.

This would put AAPL squarely in line with where I see the S&P headed this year. A 68% Fibonacci retracement from the 2018 S&P high would put the S&P just under 1000.

A similar percentage decline from the current price would put AAPL at 53.

Things are going to get really bad, the current bear market rally notwithstanding.

While macroeconomic challenges in some markets were a key contributor to this trend, we believe there are other factors broadly impacting our iPhone performance, including consumers adapting to a world with fewer carrier subsidies, US dollar strength-related price increases, and some customers taking advantage of significantly reduced pricing for iPhone battery replacements.

Yeah. Home prices are very sticky because most owners have a mental block and refuse to "lose money" ie sell below what they purchased for. Obviously this ignores buying/selling fees , taxes, and inflation. But it tends to keep house prices going up or at least flat with few exceptions. Rising rates will likely mean a slow sellers market and flat prices for the 2019 and 2020. So in real dollars the house prices will be down 2-3% each year from inflation.

the real problem is FANG's oversized ratio in most ETF's and various funds

stocks no longer move just from their companies shares being traded, they move based on how each ETF holding said stock is moving too

its a nice way to drag many up with the success of the few, but its a double edged sword (metaphorically)

the real problem is the laziness of different institutional investors, copying each other's strategies

the cascading feedback loops help when its bull market, but they will become absolute killers during the eventual downturn

>ETF's are creating a false sense of diversification, and its eventually going to bite some people in the ass

We’re on the same page. I wasn’t arguing with you, merely pointing out that the “law of large numbers” is in play with most ETFs.

The problem is that the original ETFs were based around liquidity and attempted to mirror a large index (SPY, QQQ, DIA,etc). Those did exactly what they set out to do...provide diversification and liquidity.

The last 15 years have brought too many ETFs that try to be too sector specific. e.g There are only so many Triple Net REITS, so almost by definition all ETFs dedicated to that space must hold the same stocks.

ETFs were never meant as a way to beat the market, and they won’t.

Yes, but "in the money" is a colloquialism that doesn't mean "profitable." It means that your option has intrinsic value. You can still lose extrinsic value, though, which is invariably why you're in the red.

>> No.12325579

The value/price of an option is determined by its intrinsic value + its extrinsic value. Intrinsic value is just the current underlying price - the option strike price. So if a stock is trading at $50 and you have a call option at a strike price of $45, it has $5 of intrinsic value while a call option of $50 or above would have no intrinsic value.

Extrinsic value basically boils down to the time on the option and the expected volatility of the underlying. So an option with 365 left days aught to have a lot more extrinsic value than an option with 20 days left and both will have their extrinsic value decay at different rates. In addition, options will be priced higher when the underlying is expected to make a large move rather than when its expected to be relatively docile. It should be noted that at expiration, options are only worth their intrinsic value, which is why options decay in the first place.
