You need a trusted compute layer to hash the large blobs of data and pass that to the block chain.
You can only store a sha value for a large block of immutabale files for distribution.
Say you are a legal firm, you are going to throw a tarball of public records on the block chain , part of your signing process will be to register a sha with an eth transaction or other chain that allows metadata storage.
The public can now verify the data blob, and given the security ,the files with their accompanied Sha now have legal standing with an irrefutable signature of authenticity that no jury of your peers can deny.
It is a big step in verifying data authenticity.
Also as a bragging "backend dev" we all know you are a pleb, when you know your shit you rarely boast about it.
