They're intentionally preventing BTC from scaling to worldwide usage so they can insert themselves as middlemen and take a cut. Idiotic and unfeasible business plan and it has resulted in the altcoin boom and failed adoption.

TLDR: If blockstream wasn't around, BTC would have been sitting pretty at 20k-50k per coin now.

This is why Bitcoin Cash is referred to as the real Bitcoin.
