Christian (and islamic, and others...) monotheism is the backwards philosophy, since it rejects other religions and causes social friction. The belief that your religion is the only true one is what collapsed the roman empire. Internal confrontation caused by differences in religious opinion weakened the empire and made it vulnerable to external threats.

I much prefer the approach that every aspect of nature is a different god. It seems intuitively more natural to me. It also allows me to respect worshipers of other aspects of nature even if I prefer to worship my own. The existence of my god doesn't conflict with the existence of others and that allows for a cohesive society that can unite against an external aggressor.

I find that the Internet enables the creation of "digital villages," as you can call them - we know them of course as imageboards and forums - where people can come together and discuss things of interest in our virtual town square, even though we likely live hundreds of miles from each other.
