There's a bunch of companies out there right now intending to use machine learning/AI to gather high-level metrics in a variety of fields, most notably in medicine. Look at Oasis labs.

In the universe that Opie has glimpsed, we are similar such AI. Our experiences are being mined, and some Intelligent Designer is gathering that data -- but what are they studying, and for what purpose?
