The reason for that graph isn't that someone tripped over a cable. It's that the software isn't designed to handle a over a constant throughput of 10mb blocks. The hard fork changes which BSV rejected upgraded that to 32mb blocks, but because BSV rejected them and just upgraded the limit, they're still stuck on that effective 10mb throughput.
BSV is unironically run by technical incompetents. I don't know about any of this other political stuff or faketoshi vs realtoshi or the economics of hash wars or anything like that, but I do know software development, and this is just an obvious problem of poorly designed software being tasked with a load it is unfit to handle.

Just how the fuck can any of these numbers be a problem? 10mb every 10 minutes is 1 meg a minute which is only 133.3kB/sec. Why would that be hard for any modern computer to handle? It's such a tiny datastream, I don't understand why the software is choking on it. Even 64mb is 853kB/s which still isn't even 1mbps, and 1mbps isn't even impressive for shitty old DSL links these days.
What is going on in the software that is so fucked up it can't handle this?

The fact that it's even in the ballpark for higher investment is a testament to how far its come. You're right it will take investment but remember the other thing Szabo defined besides Bit Gold was Smart Contracts.

The system is contained for now but if elements start becoming more efficient for companies and begin to force themselves upon the world via efficiency (think Uber to cabs) they will lose out in the long run or at least have to keep adapting.

The arms race is still going strong and people are more ambivalent about their fiat and its backers than ever before with no end in sight.
