>I'm new to the stock market, what stocks should I buy?
Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks, and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Options are not the same as buying and selling stock it's literally a contract to buy or sell stock at a certain price.. if you are going to treat it the same as a stock you are going to have a tough time.. not understanding how the spread works on options will kill you even if the underlying is doing good your premium could be lagging especially if it's OTM.. please come back after you've been in the market awhile.. unitl then i suggest you lurk more.

Considering the past pump to 20k was artificial, the question is when they will start pumping it again.
Crypto won't go away, it might take years for it to start blasting off again.. but will the groups controlling the crypto market wait for that long? I don't think so, the profits are just massive in crypto. It's fucking childsplay compared to the stock market. They will probably find a bottom around 1800-3000 and start accumulating for weeks or months before pumping it again.

BUT, the point being.. it's going to pump again without a doubt.. simply because the crypto market is so damn loose it's just way too easy for rich people to bolster their wealth.

The main bullish case for BTC (pretty much the only coin worth a damn) is its similarity to physical gold trading.

- BTC is the most recognizable crypto
- BTC is reputed to be non forgeable (hence a form of common trust)
- you can take it with you anywhere in the world with ease
- you can exchange it for local currency without using official channels (which require background checks, bank account etc)

I think BTC's incredible bullrun coincided with the global financial bullruns of 2017. The big boys were all too happy to find another niche to park their excess margins into. BTC got dumped because the same people are getting margin called and they raise cash wherever they can.

I suppose the thinking is that falling oil prices can signal falling demand which can be a sign of a recession. However, we're only really seeing a fall in demand in China, the rest of the price fall is caused by a supply gut. Of course, China is a real worry due to the amount of unregulated debt it has and it's real estate bubble and there's a big potential for contagion there.

>>11895369
This is the more important factor, I believe, cheap oil can grease the way for American profits, undoing some of the impact of the trade war and tight labor market.

>>11895393

Lower oil prices mean oil producing countries get less dollars, which hurts their currency and economy. This has less of an impact on the global economy because the US is the only real source of growth anyway. Besides Russia, none of the big oil producing countries pose real systemic risk to the global economy. It could mean more instability in the middle east, however.

pecifically, there were worries that Facebook’s moves were hurting the app’s growth — perhaps even intentionally — through some of the company’s product updates and marketing changes, these sources said.

That included a throttling back of Instagram’s promotion inside the Facebook app, apparently ordered by Zuckerberg, that dropped weekly referrals significantly by hundreds of thousands of users.

Systrom was also frustrated with a recent Facebook change to how posts are shared between the two apps. Previously, photos shared to Facebook via Instagram included a label identifying the photo as an Instagram photo, presumably to encourage people to visit or download Instagram. That label was recently removed, which made it appear as though people were posting those photos directly to Facebook and not to Facebook via Instagram.

Highschoolers tend to be much more socially homogenized these days due to the internet. You don't get any pockets of culture. Every kid plays fortnite, every kids pays $500 for skins, etc.

The conforming aspect of modern high school is huge. You don't even see weird offshoots that much that dress differently. Also kids all over USA dress the same due to keeping with trends online.

The segmentation only happens with regards to "fandoms" these days it seems but even those follow the same patterns and don't result in much attempt at differing personalities.

It's pretty much only political now.

It seems like it's about having zero serious convictions or very readily compromising whatever convictions that you have.

Instead of having a formed idea about how to handle some issue, you readily pivot and start bashfully fighting the approach away from the proper solution.

So, let's take homelessness. And let's say that there's a left-wing solution of homeless shelters and a right-wing solution of no homeless shelters. Radical centrists would be handing out umbrellas to the homeless, which would appear stupid to the premise of the argument on either side.

Or, let's take abortion, which is pro-life or pro-choice. It's like making an argument to only allow abortion for black babies. Why? You still killing babies then, and you still aren't allowing some people to make that decision to kill their babies.

Here's an example of a proper stance in the latter issue:
Mandatory post-birth abortions for ALL radical centrists.

Why is this a proper stance?
Because it fully addresses the issue of the question about what to do with the radical centrists.

there isn't even a bear market right now, dumbass
the market action you're interpreting as a sign of an imminent crash is just a correction and volatility caused by geopolitical events

Were you asleep during his entire administration?

I won't write a blog post, but holy fuck, dude.

All of them are fucked in some way, going back to Truman, or further. Ford was the least damaging President we've had in the modern era, only because he didn't do shit.

The recent stock market slide is indicative of problems down the road as originally there wasn't any specific trigger. That points to liquidity problems. Of course, I doubt a crash is happening tomorrow or next month, but I would expect something to happen next year given all the economic contradictions that are developing.

I'm not basing my analysis on the issue of rising rates in a vacuum. Rather, my analysis starts on the basis of profits.

A tight labor market, higher costs from the trade war, higher transport costs from the hot economy, and yes, to some degree, rising costs of borrowing, are all hitting profits hard. Combine this with the fact that the US is the only real source of growth in the world and you've got a big problem.

Btw, I've positioned my portfolio in such a way where I don't have to sell anything at all, rather it's designed to get about 2.5% returns until a crash, and then take off.

What do you guys think of investing in Greek bank stocks?

The IMF and EU have stopped giving aid to Greece, and unemployment levels have fallen from an all-time high of 32% to 18%, and continue to fall. The GDP has grown by 3% last year, and is predicted to go up 2% this year. Property prices are rising, and this means investors will have to turn to banks for securing loans.

Greece is going through an economic recovery, and as of now, its banks (Alpha Bank, National Bank of Greece, Piraeus, Eurobank) are trading at 1/5th of their book value. I predict their pre-crash value to be here in 5-7 years. Is now the time to invest?

Pic related, when a bank stock (National Bank of Greece) rose almost 1100% in a single day (went from 0.25 to $3.15, pre-crash used to be traded at 25-80 bucks a pop

You should wait until the next crisis, it's too late cycle to make those kind of risky investments.
