Guys what happened? Neo liberals and libertarians told me lower wages would be offset by cheaper goods.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2018/10/30/jobs-62-percent-fall-short-middle-class-standard-us/1809629002/
http://archive.is/R0GIb

>Sixty-two percent of jobs fall short of that middle-class standard when factoring in both wages and the cost of living in the metro area where the job is located, according to the study by Third Way, a think tank that advocates center-left ideas.

>Some areas, such as Myrtle Beach, fall short because of a scarcity of good-paying jobs. Among the biggest cities, Los Angeles, New York City and San Francisco were ranked fairly low (172nd, 168th and 174th, respectively) despite thriving economies because of their high cost of living.

>A big reason for the dearth of middle-class jobs is the offshoring of millions of middle-income factory positions to countries with lower labor costs, such as China, in recent decades and the spread of lower-paying service jobs.

Yes, because the goods are produced in shithole countries. You literally cucked down your salaries so you could buy your shit cheaper from overseas. You just forgot that you can't produce everything overseas so those things are much more expensive now due to you cucking your salaries.

>A big reason for the dearth of middle-class jobs is the offshoring of millions of middle-income factory positions to countries with lower labor costs, such as China, in recent decades and the spread of lower-paying service jobs
Well there ya go
If you treat the whole world altogether as one economy (through free trade agreements) then the distribution of jobs and /kinds/ of jobs will equalize across the world, even if it takes hundreds of years
This is why the Chinese now have a middle class, who have seen almost ALL of the world's economic growth for the last twenty five years

Also, being realistic, we can't simply keep up the relative economic growth and prosperity that we (America) had in the years right after WW2, it was simply a high point that people look back to, but on the other hand we don't have to live in poverty or a cyberpunk future

(To me it's a lot like the crypto bullrun in 2017, every new level of wealth achieved becomes the new floor that you worry about going below, even though you never expected to reach it in the first place)

He's not wrong in the fact that capitalism (= a merchant society) enabled jews to grab so much power in society.
Before the french revolution/industrial revolution, western society were divided in 3 castes that are as old as th firste indo-european societies: the warriors (aka aristocracy), the priests (aka clergy) and the producers (aka farmers and craftsmen).
International merchants (typically jews) were often considered outsiders and didn't have real power in society.

When modern capitalism began to really take a clear form then those people were extremely empowered, suddenly there were a shitton of specialized good produced and country were forced to exchange much more than they used to do.
In parallel the aristocracy was basically dismantled (as they were not really needed anymore to protect locals), rationalism made the clergy a meme in 2 century while industrialization/mechanization killed much of the artisans and farmers.
Today merchants rule and jews are the most skilled reason (for a very precise reason but I won't be talking about it in this post).

A large part of the post war boom was linked to an Europe in ruins too and making it super easy for american products to capture the market.

That said americans always lived in abundance (being a semi-continent full of natural ressources and all) and probably live in the only country that would be able to live in autarchy right now while maintaining its economic complexity.

this. When a market needs to crash...it needs to fucking crash.

Take house prices. After 2008, homes should have lost more than 100% of their value, and their real valuation shouldve been down sub 100k for many middle class homes.

But when you pour gasoline on the market with very low interest rates, give banks a bail out, then guess who gets to own all the notes to the homes to cause an inventory crises of homes we're having today? Thats where we are.

True libertarianism for markets would be horrible crash but a very quick recovery to find a supply/demand equilibrium.

It's a lot easier to sell socialism to people when you don't actually call it socialism

That's basically our corporate crony capitalist system, the banks know that they will not be allowed to fail so they take risks, keep the profits when they turn out ok and subisidize the losses from their bad risks with socialist bailouts

You're missing the forest for the trees bro

Socialism is where the government and industry have merged, that is exactly what happened in 2008 with bailouts and will happen again in another recession. Our corporations have an implied safety net from our government. It hasn't been acknowledged as much the last few years because the economy has been strong and more overt socialist policies of bailout and subsidies haven't been necessary.

It's like people have the attention span of a goldfish baka

>> No.11593709

Whatever you want to try to claim our current system is, the reality is that our government has been taken over by corporations/big business and have been able to fuck over the American people freely (mostly via Republicans' policies, sorry, but this is the reality). Wages have been stagnating/declining for a very long time now, well over 20 years, so this isn't a recent development. And all the while corporate profits continue to increase exponentially and Republicans keep lowering taxes for big businesses and the ultra-wealthy. Republicans and Laissez-faire capitalists have proven for the world that trickle-down-economics is complete bullshit. Given the opportunity, corporations will do whatever they can to continue consolidating power, continue to stagnate/decrease wages, and continue to destroy the middle class for the sake of short-term profits they can show to stockholders. We've been watching this unfold now for a very long time. Can't believe I ever full for the bullshit "Republicans care about the middle class" meme.
