At the risk of sounding like an NPC, you really should be investing in your 401k if you can and especially so if you employers matches any amount of money. Most people won't invest in stocks or bonds but they can passively invest with their 401k. Again, not an NPC but it is a better and safer investment to invest in traditional stocks than to invest in a highly risky speculative asset like bitcoin.

Yeah and when you're 55 you might have have 50k

you should be unironically - and not hedging your bets with various investments and asset classes is really the main NPC move. Also take advantage of roth 401k's if you can (in 20 years what direction do you see taxes going).

that means you'd be a fucking retard - i have 110k at 29

Now expand that in terms of growth over the next 30 years + any additional contributions, and i should have over a couple mil without a ton of effort.

There's no reason not to diversify your money everywhere. With a simple rebalancing strategy you'd have made money last year to put into the stock market and made money this year to put back into crypto. If you work for a company that matches any 401k contribution you're just leaving money on the table.

i'm 25, been putting in 8% of paycheck for 2 years and get 8% match. I have over 25k in it.

yeah, the npc thing is going all in 401k and not investing in anything else. that's a solid amount young, but just make sure you're also picking up some different asset classes/investments outside of 401k. Or keep some money on the side ready to buy into the market once it tanks.

Average US Salary - 50k.
Average company match 3% on 6%.
After 30 years at 7% a year you have 455k.

Luckily I have a pretty broad amount of funds available in my 401k. But it really opens up with a Roth IRA since I can pretty much buy anything I want, including OTC.

You are definitely doing it right anon, don't forget you will have to pay tax on that as it's going in pre-tax.
