>Make short of 40k
>Work in Hospitality industry
>No debts
>Live in parents home, drive parents car
>Have $1.2 million in bank generating $6000 a month, and its compounding
>Got that $1.2 million from real estate, parents helped with down payment, I paid the mortgage, the value increased almost double after 5 years and then I sold

I'm comfortable but worried about my career prospects (not sure what I want to do in life) and I feel like I am wasting my life with my hospitality job.

(No I cannot live off the dividends that I get, because of inflation and the fact that I want to retire when I'm 40 with $3 million in the bank).

Compared to where I was for the past 4 years (NEET), I'm fine with it for now.
The job is mostly solo driving and I don't have to deal with any customers directly which is far better than other unskilled jobs that I had previously applied for, but I'm still a filthy wagie.
I need to seriously stop procrastinating and spending all my time consuming media if I want to make it by my mid 30's though, I have vague longer term plans but haven't really gone into specific detail with what I need to be doing each day to achieve my theoretical goals, and mostly feel too overwhelmed to take my goals seriously as a result.

I have no job.

I'm not going to say what I did because it could out me but as an analogy imagine a ballerina or maybe a drug dealer (what i did was legal). I had a very lucrative nontraditional job that was very niche and took a lot of skill to do, i know longer have the skill to do it (like a 35yo ballerina or an NFL bustout) and I have no resume or traditional job experience and I'm on 4chan right now so you can guess how personable I am. I had my run, my run is over. its a lot harder than people think it just start over. "start a business" isn't that easy when you've never worked in any industry and have no connections. for example, i'm barely qualified to be a dishwasher, i'm a smart enough to know that i shouldn't be starting a restaurant if i don't know anything about what goes on behind the scenes in a restaurant.

That would not be respectful towards her.

My business is extremely niche, so it would be too easy to look me up based on keywords alone, let's say the field is chemistry.

Unfortunately, the business is so niche that there are not really buyers willing to pay fair price ( 750k imo). Tbh one buyer flanked at 400k about a year ago, when the profits were lower.

It's also high risk as it's highly susceptible to change in government regulations and requires highly skilled personnel. Such personnel is not easy to find. The most value in the company is my experience and knowledge. Sorry I'm not able to word it better.

But basically selling the business would let me to pursue my hobbies while having the financial independence, my goals are as following:
1. place to live in a capital of the country I reside in and a place to rent over there as well. Hoping to hit this before 27. If I took on mortgages, I'd be able to do it now, but I honestly believe, that waiting a year or two can lower the prices and risk considerably, while I'll be able to strengthen my financial security.

2. spending time with my family and friends and letting my wife pursue her hobbies and dreams (own private medical practice, painting [so an atelier]). Hoping to hit this before I'm 30, because that's when my wife will be able to start a practice.

3. independent research and teaching. Basically doing it now, but I don't have enough time for it, as medical school is hell.

4. hobbies: flying, mountaineering & skiing. Thinking maybe owning a nice cottage in some wonderful Ski resort. Also my family lives all around, so renting a plane without having to think of monetary constrictions would be nice.

I'm glad you asked. The way autismbux works here, they garnish your disability payment depending on how much you earn. If you earn over $200 per month, they deduct 50% of your disability payment. You get $100 bonus per month for being employed. So to make the most money for the least amount of work, you only have to earn around $400 doing part time work.

what you don't see is how much of their ability to generate wealth is being suppressed.

let's say your friend pays 1k/mo and puts away $500/mo. you put away 1.5k/mo. After 5 years, you have 90k and your friend has 30k, not including ROI / dividends. that's HUGE, you now have a fat portfolio and enough for a comfy down payment. your friend has 30k and a sense of independence.

Do you not pay taxes either? 72k salary after taxes would put you at 4-4.5k/month before expenses depending on your location

Also living with your parents for a bit is cool but you can’t be mommy’s little sugar plum forever. Eventually you’ll grow up and have to pay for rent/mortgage, groceries, health/car insurance, phone/utilies, gas, etc. so hopefully you’ve accounted for that

Yeah I was a little incredulous when I looked at it but the numbers don't lie. Looks like my salary is actually closer to $73k and my taxes are low compared to my gross because of the retirement accounts. Last year I was saving 4.8k per month but that's including a bonus at the end of the year.

>Also living with your parents for a bit is cool but you can’t be mommy’s little sugar plum forever. Eventually you’ll grow up and have to pay for rent/mortgage, groceries, health/car insurance, phone/utilies, gas, etc. so hopefully you’ve accounted for that
If I thought this situation was in any way sustainable I could be retired by now. That said, I'm not moving out unless either (1) they kick me out (2) I get offered a LOT more money to work out of state, or (3) I have enough to retire to some 3rd world shithole with decent medical care

Sounds like he's not paying much (or anything) for his living space. In that case it isn't exactly a bad idea to stick around and suffer a few more years to save a sizable war chest before moving to a lower cost area where he likely will be paid half for the same job.
