what was your biggest dopamine rush?

first 1k$?
first 10k$?
first 100k$?
first 1m$?

what is life changing money for you? what is "made it" money for you?

1m. 100k isn't even enough to do anything useful with. even if you invested it all into a 10% fund in stockmarket, thats 10k a year. its useless.

1m is where you get breathing room.

> $100K

Felt like I could actually make it although a $100K today is not what it used to be be when I was a kid.

> $500K

Next goal. Feeling achievable

> $1MM

$1MM is not what it used to be but for me is "Made it" money considering I should have my townhouse paid off and can live cheaply without working letting my GF pay the utilities and buy the food.

My first 100k was a huge milestone for me. After that I didn’t really care. Currently at ~650k with a high income. I don’t care as much about money as I used to though as I’ve realized that money really doesn’t improve my life that much. My life unironically wouldn’t change much if I 5 or 10x’d my net worth. I guess I’ve made it by my own standards because ai don’t have to worry about spending money.

When you build your wealth slowly (like most of us), hitting those milestones doesn't really feel like anything. In regards to life changing money, that'll be when I get close to $2m because I'll quit my job.

Those compounding returns since 2009 has really spoiled us. The QE money printing has boosted the stock market but the actual inflation numbers are probably much higher than the official and the market will probably kick us in the nuts soon or within the next couple years.

Hopefully crypto behaves differently or the Bitcoin halvening in 2020 leads to another massive bullrun in 2021.

My first 3x on the stock market was maybe best feel. I had just started trading and bought some shitty mineless lithium mining company. It mooned two weeks after i bought in. I sold near the top completely by fluke. Proceeded to do the same kind of dumb trade on another mining outfit, promptly lost 60% of my profits from previous trade. It was a roller coaster of emotions but a very valuable lesson learned. I ramped up research and figured out a winning strategy after that. It made me a much better trader on both stocks and crypto.

Yeah I've tried to prepare myself for that possibility via owning non-US stocks and gold, as well as keeping a healthy amount of cash on the side. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot to invest back in 2009, and my wealth is primarily due to a high paying job and living like a miser.

Took a 40k loan and went all-in XLM the last week of december. Every day was nailbiting degenerate gambler anxiety. Then we had that rise from 25c to over 90c in less than 48 hours. That was easily the biggest rush of my life. My whole portfolio went from 50k to over 200k over the weekend.

Then I cashed nothing out and now it's worth 25k. Felt good while it lasted tho.
