How valid do you think the 48 laws of power book is?

I see a lot of truths in this book, even though I work at a hospital of all places. I breezed through some of it and have qualms with bits and pieces - I get the feeling this is largely anecdotal experience. Still lot of it resonates with me.

I used to like this book.
Now I realize this is like astrology. The rules are so general that it is impossible to apply.
You will fine anything that you want in this book. Most of the rules are contradicted by one or a few others.

Some I see universally applied

like Law 10 is almost applied constantly. Group hierarchies expel the weak out of the group uniformly.

Law 1 is always useful. I've been at my job more but if I appear more knowledgeable than my boss, she definitely doesn't like it. I only chime in when it avoids something obvious that was overlooked that's important. Law 5 is an also must. If your reputation is shit despite how competent you are, you will stay at the bottom rung.

Some laws are a little bogus like Law 4, because if used obviously you just look like an idiot and a douche. Better to just be succint without leaving yourself open for criticism.

I don't know if he did that on purpose or just trying to be retarded, admitting the blame.

It's a retarded book and nobody should read it. Now delete this.

it reads like an edgelord power fantasy built on top of romanticized representations of sociopaths

the principles fall into either "so general that it doesn't even need to be stated" or into situations that if it applies to your workplace, you just have a really shitty workplace

A lot of the "laws" are applicable even if you're not interested in power plays:

>THINK AS YOU LIKE BUT BEHAVE LIKE OTHERS

>ASSUME FORMLESSNESS

>NEVER APPEAR TOO PERFECT

>AVOID STEPPING INTO A GREAT MAN'S SHOES

>DISCOVER EACH MAN'S THUMBSCREW

>PLAN ALL THE WAY TO THE END

>WHEN ASKING FOR HELP, APPEAL TO PEOPLE’S SELF-INTEREST, NEVER TO THEIR MERCY OR GRATITUDE

>WIN THROUGH YOUR ACTIONS, NEVER THROUGH ARGUMENT

i was being sarcastic. I guess I should have posted this in /adv/ since it's really workplace culture I'm looking to thrive in
