I unironically feel God is telling me to do this. I will pay 40% in taxes on the withdrawal, but believe the market will crash more than that within the next year. Likely 6 months.

Am I crazy?

Yes, you're crazy. I would rate the probability of the U.S. going truly Mad Max at essentially 0%. If the U.S. went Mad Max, you should be loading up on guns (AR-15, Mossberg shotgun) and ammunition, gasoline, spare parts for your car, drive flat tires, and canned/preserved foods. Gold will not be worth anything in a Mad Max scenario as civilization will cease to exist.

On the other hand, if you're worried about financial mayhem, leave the money in the IRA and buy something like PHYS, SGOL, or GLD so you can avoid getting taxed.

No I feel the same. All the Buffett indicators are flashing according to ZH and emerging markets currencies are crashing. It's happening.

Not at all. Listen to GOD. Pay no attention to fedora-wearing atheists and doubters. Waste 40% of your savings on a whim.

Im 27. Ive been thinking the same thing. Ive got a fucking ton of guns and food already... but i feel like the markets gonna crash and i want to position myself well for the recovery. I cant touch my 401k tho since jewberg thinks he can invest better then me.

But i have been contemplating a loan to pull 50% of it and put it in things which i think will hold value. If im wrong that sucks i can build it back up. If im right, im right big.

Regardless, paying back said loan im basically paying myself for money i owe myself.

So i dunno, but im with you man.

If your investments are not in the millions or billions don't even bother. The tax alone will eat it all up. You're bound to make money in the long run anyways, recession or no recession.

You should short the entire US Stock Market then. If you're really right then you'll come out far ahead of everyone. You won't do that though because you really just want to justify collecting gold and guns and fantasize about surviving in a destroyed America.

This. Eat up whatever food you’ve got lying around then kill yourself is the only real answer. 99.999% of people will either die a quick death or a very slow and horrible death and why risk the latter?

You knew that when you signed up, it's a savings plan for retirement. If you don't like it, don't make one, idiot.
