10884821 No.10884821 [Reply] [Original]

Very good chance link will be needed for this:
>Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has announced the formation of a data consortium in partnership with IBM and law firm Herbert Smith Freehills for the purpose of building a groundbreaking large-scale, cross-industry smart contract platform for Australian businesses to collaborate and do business within.
>The platform, which will be called the Australian National Blockchain (ANB) is being touted as potentially game-changing infrastructure within Australia’s digital economy, helping businesses around the country make use of legally-enforceable smart contracts and exchange data, as well as confirm the status and authenticity of legal contracts.
>In other words, Australian businesses will gain the ability to use smart contracts to automatically trigger business events and processes using preset milestones. The smart legal contracts (SLC) provided by ANB include clauses to accommodate recording of information from external data sources such as IoT devices, with the ability to self-execute once conditions listed in the contract are met.
hmm.. I wonder how they will get that data onto the blockchain to be used in trustless smart contracts? Will they trust a centralised third party for this data worth billions? Or use a decentralised network of oracles... hmm.....

Don't forget:
>Accord project is partnered with IBM and Chainlink
>SIBOS 2018 will be in Sydney, Australia with exhibitors being IBM, Swift, Hyperledger and the Reserve Bank of Australia

if you are a project that needs an Oracle for your blockchain (private or public), and care about decentralization/trustless execution odd's are you will end up at LINK eventually, even if you dont know it now

Accord project uses "Smart Clauses"
Australian National Blockchain uses "Smart Clauses"

This terminology is trademarked by Clause
https://trademarks.justia.com/872/92/smart-87292696.html

Australian National Blockchain and Accord Project are both doing the exact same thing in trying to create smart legal contracts.

Chainlink are an official partner of the Acccord Project (created by Clause)

Australian National Blockchain is basically the Accord project in Australia.

This will 100% use Chainlink as it's oracle. Screenshot this

I'm actually more qualified to talk about this than most anons.I'm employed with a cyber-techno machinations company, I do a lot of security analyst programming type work. Open source, decentralized, APIs, partnerships, you name it. We'd be one of the first companies in line for something like Chainlink, if the decentralized smart contract space had more value over traditional data exchanges. There's a catch though, an underlying flaw more deeply embedded in the bedrock of LINK than the very code itself. The flaw is with the concept, and it's this: Companies won't actually go through the hassle of trusting their data API's through crypto.

Now I can already hear your keyboards going frantic, but hear me out. /biz/ hates banks, and traditional data providers. But actual companies, businesses, and investors do not. There's an old saying you might have heard of: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". The idea that any of our bosses would give us the go ahead if we approached them to put our companies valuable data in a smart contract on a cryptocurrency called Chainlink, that they've never heard of, we'd be laughed out at best and fired on the spot at worst. We already have API data buyers and providers we trust.

'But Chainlink is trustless!' I hear you cry, but is that really a good thing? Just listen to the sound of it. Businesses don't want to spend millions of dollars on something that is trustLESS, they want something trustFUL. 'But the reputation system!', doesn't that defeat the whole point of your coin? If companies only trust nodes with high reputation, what's the difference between trusting banks and data providers that already have reputation, but in real life not on a computer screen.

The fact is, LINK is going to share the same fate as ETH will. A lot of 'real world application' hype, with a lot of 'crypto world application' reality. Only, this billion supply coin isn't going to come close to the $1k that Etherum hit. Happy gambling though anons.
