You're right. Hiring a public policy manager for their blockchain team that's using Chainlink for their blockchain tech is unrelated. It doesn't at all indicate that Facebook is desperately trying to avoid having the SEC throw regulations at them so they're champing at the bit to release DLT and smart contracts that will self regulate. Facebook will use the blockchain and external APIs as a measure to reduce the scrutiny of govs around the globe. Chainlink by chance helps this in this aspect. Call it luck, as Chainlink as a 3rd-party with stakeholder engagement can fulfill many of the regulatory concerns (read as it concerns Europe).
