NYSE has been working on this since late 2017. They don't just announce it because "its ready". They announce to signal to the market.

Whales make money off the herd mentality. At some point when they've drank their fill of blood, they'll know it's time to profit from some hardcore FOMO, as they've loaded up and know with a few strategic nudges they can flip this market, similar to April.

Fundamentals have nothing to do with these swings. It's pure greed. It's their market to squeeze the life/profit out of at the expense of the little people.

That's bullshit as long as there's even the slightest possibility that ETH will remain inflationary without a cap. Ether was also centralized through an ICO and have unclear monetary policy in the future. I can only envision a pure mined currency ever having the proper economics to become a global currency or store of value.
