It's hard to believe that he would make such a dumb mistake, but the board issued a statement that was extremely neutral and only affirmed that Elon suggested the go private last week. They didn't confirm there was funding, and in fact their only confirmation that Elon had spoken about it a week ago would heavily imply that there was no indication of funding having been secured, and it is unlikely that funding for the largest re-privatization in history would be hashed out in a week without any of the major banks seemingly able to confirm it or their rumors coming from their desks.

And now there is an SEC investigation into it. If Elon actually was so petty as to assure massively lucrative litigation against his company just to spite shorts, I'm convinced the dude has a personality disorder.

but i saw a much more pronounced version of this while trying to buy more VIX calls in the last hour of today. everytime the VIX would drop, it would get "bought" back up (obv you cant buy VIX but you can buy/cover contracts). in particular, this time it was gapping up at the end of each candle by +1%. very strange. ive seen this on expiry day. but we arent even close. additionally, according to barcharts, both large specs and small specs are net short VIX. large specs mightve seen the trade as too crowded, or, if like you said large specs is central bankers (likely) then they might have another agenda (like what i said above w forced deleveraging)

i think what just happened was large specs covering en masse, but we wont know till sunday

He's known it's in the works and bought up an absolute shitload of shares back when it was down around 270. (This is picnic into, check the SEC reports). Board has been in on it too.

Squeezing the shorts is an added bonus, but the main thing is to stop the crazier ones from flying fucking drones over his factory and shit, and having the clickbait press fuck with him less.

Sidenote. This means that SpaceX won't have an IPO until Elon is dead and in the ground. Sad!
