A hard fork doesn't mean it's a new copy. A great chunk of miners and developers that were behind the original BTC chose keep using the same technology as was originally intended.
For now they have to use BCH ticker, but eventually it's possible that the market doesn't like BTC, it's price goes down so much that miners abandon it and poof: BCH becomes the new BTC.

I don't think that this news will really move the markets much, but it should at least put an end to the bear.

Not out of consensus of moving BTC forward. BTC as you know it is a fork that everyone agreed on. BCH like every other fork is one that people did not agree on so it did not take hold as the new BTC chain.

BTC and BCH are two different things. The adoption one gets does not matter to the other. If BTC gets adopted and it underperforms they aren't moving to BCH. They are going to fork BTC without the need to affect their investments. They only share similar names. BTC adoption is not BCH adoption and vice versa.

But BCH is still the only relevant competitor to the same miner network and for the longest/safest chain.
