You're forgetting that cryptocurrencies don't need chainlink. You can already exchange value pretty easily. There is also the risk that chainlinks competitors btfo it. It is more expensive and less efficient to the api or data feed buyer if they need to use the chainlink network over a centralized source that they trust. Only certain contracts that absolutely require extra security will benefit from chainlink.

The potential was believable at first. But then the shills drank too much of their own kool aid and everything became a joke.

Lets say nano takes off. Are they going to be using chainlink? The answer is no because they don't have smart contract capabilities. Atomic swaps don't need chainlink. Bitcoin doesn't "need" chainlink to exchange value. If crypto currencies that don't require secure external data are the be all end all of crypto then chainlink is pointless.
