ITT we share our irl normie crypto experiences.

I'll start, at work and co-worker says "hey I hear litecoin is the new hot crypto".

I used to go on facebook to manage some ads/pages, never used it for personal posting but had friends added from a decade ago. Logged on during Nov and they were all celebrating that bitcoin was hacked and worth nothing I think when nicehash got hacked but they thought it meant bitcoin itself was hacked.

>> No.10189272

I've had a lot worse. My dad is a cop and one of his coworkers called me to chat crypto. He kept trying to shill Tron and Ripple, this was right before the huge crash in January and I kept on telling him it was a terrible idea but I have no idea if he listened

I think the normies who will FOMO in if we get a bull run again are those with kind of neutral reaction to crypto. Some of my friends / relatives were kinda like saying nothing but clearly deeply thinking about it(none of them actually bought lol). It'a in their brain now and I just know they are ready next time there's a bull run. I was neutral too before I actually researched it.

Gold is actually good for store of value because it's rare and so durable. Gold Roman coins still are intact to this day and so are other gold artifacts. So yeah, it's actually backed by its properties and legacy

Backed by trust.
Who do you trust more? Your government or a decentralized blockchain that can't be hacked.

The point is it isn't useful for anything besides 'value storage' which is the same for Bitcoin.

How does exchanges being robbed stop you from being in complete control of your coins? No one can tell you whether you can or cannot transfer the coins between wallets. You can access these wallets wherever you go in the entire world instantly. You can't transfer or receive more than 10,000 government fiat without asking permission or explaining how you got it. Less than 10,000 dollars costs an expensive "wire" fee and takes a business day or more for funds to be moved.

USD is worth something because you are legally required to use it to pay your taxes. It is also backed by the promise of borrowers to repay their debts.
