Thats the problem. A conversion would be a sale, you are talking about CTR and 3% is bad. Did you splittest creatives (the image / video) and the ad copy? Also, what was the relevance factor of the ad? It should be 9 or 10 and everything below 8 means you fucked something up.

A CVR of 3% in a shop is okay but like I said that would be purchases. Did you use the pixel? Retargeting is the key in ecom. Use all relevant pixel events and do a custom audience from "add to card" users and visitors in general. Later on you can use these conversion ads but you need at least 50 purchases a week otherwise the algo fucks things up too.

I’m a salary man now, but if anyone is in college I had a pretty good little business I ran that I think is really replicable.

At my university, there was a big carpet manufacturing plant nearby, and they would sell “imperfect” carpet at giant discount. The carpets would usually have frayed edges, which really didn’t matter when you were just cutting them up into smaller sizes. Before the big dorm move in day, I would gather up all the exact dimensions of the dorms, and cut carpet to the specifications, to perfectly fit inside the room.

Then, I would rent a couple Uhauls and sell the carpets while everyone was moving in. Most people don’t bring rugs, they’re usually too big to haul across the state in a car, or completely forgotten about. But when the parents see the dorm, it usually looks like a prison cell. It’s so drab and depressing, and they usually think about how a little texture in the room can help it come together. At the time I was selling for $20 a rug and typically left with $5k profit split between a couple buddies. It ain’t a huge amount of money, but it definitely helped throughout the school year. I was also only hitting 2 dorm buildings at a time, could have expanded but wasn’t really worth the effort.

- tend to overcomplicate things

I am a developer and I did a lot of projects.

I will talk about my last one, not the first one since I don't know which one was the first really.

There was really no real success.

I plan to crete website to address those people to a new philosophy, to encourage people to go out of their comfort zone and change their mindset.

It seems naive to just create or suggest a philosophy and expect them to change how they live, of course. My goal at the beggining is only to plant a seed on anyone interested. You're wrong. Quality rec centers exist and have facilities that wouldn't really be possible for an aspiring entrepreneur to compete with. My community's rec has sports leagues for youths and adults, a pretty good gym (no squat rack though), activities ranging from weekly bridge games to canoe trips, and art classes, among other things. Membership is also exclusive to people who live or work in the community, which prevents resources from being spread too thin and helps keep civic engagement high because most people know each other. Only thing missing is the self-improvement books, but our county library system is top-notch, so we don't need it.

Of course, this is all in the suburbs. Maybe it could work in a super-urban area, but now you're competing with stores like REI and Whole Foods that are trying to create community spaces. Not to mention businesses like rock climbing gyms and yoga studios that create communities pretty naturally.

The idea is appealing, but it's reliant on a small, niche community, which prevents scaling up. And because you'd be in a high-rent area, you'd have to develop a core clientele very quickly
