You wouldn't even be able to support a universal healthcare system without the wealth created by capitalism. My point is that a country like Portugal can't even afford a system like that, or the huge social security net they have. Neither can most of Southern Europe and even among the countries with universal healthcare; the ones that actually work have capitalist and free market mechanisms in them that make them function. It's a complex topic and it isn't so black and white as capitalism vs socialism.

In Canada we have it but I didn't say I agreed with it, especially the way we implemented it. We have some of the longest wait times in the developed world and the fewest amount of doctors. The less centralized and more capitalist mechanisms you have the better the system works.
