Talk to me about gaps /smg/

I see similar in many of places 'needs to fill that gap before it moves on' 'there's a huge gap at $x that needs filling' etc etc

Is this really a things and is there anymore info on this?

Are the markets this autistic they would retreat to fill a gap without any other catalyst for price moving in that direction?
