My 2017 MBP is still working fine though, I'm not gonna go full consoomer with the first generation.

BCH, BTC and ETH are the only big coins I hold, and while I think ETH is overpriced I don't really hate it as the other garbage.
That said, Craig Wright made some very strong arguments on why PoW is superior to PoS (not a fan of the guy either, but he's smart af) - in PoW you're constantly competing with others and you always need to reinvest, pay for DDoS protection and other infrastructure and even pay back the community (by increasing adoption yourself) - otherwise you've wasted money on your investment.
PoS sounds good to commies who think running a business is free, but it actually DOES centralize power more than PoW, because it requires no reinvestment, no paying back the community, no additional services, etc.
