>it's just the flu bro!
Seasonal flu mortality rate is 0.05% while corona-chan's is 1-4%, so low-end 20x as lethal. Corona-chan is also far more contagious
>it'll stop spreading when it warms!
Flu is expectedly seasonal, it's R0 in winter is ~1.6 and under 1 in summer. Corona-chan's R0 is over 3 now (already well outside of flu season) and estimated to still be over 2 in summer, so while the speed of spread will slow, it won't be stopped.
>b-but treatments are just around the corner!
No. A vaccine is a year away at least. Antivirals don't work unless given within the first few days of infection, given the incubation period antivirals will be all but worthless. Monoclonal antibody therapy will be more effective, but is 6m out until trials, and still won't be very effective in advanced cases, indeed, Regeneron appears to be targeting their treatment as a prophylactic, probably mainly for healthcare workers treating the infected.

It's literally a coronaviruses, which is not an influenza virus. It's R0 is vastly higher than flu, as unlike flu corona-chan is capable of asymptomatic carrier transmission and mildly symptomatic cases are as infectious as highly symptomatic cases

Nigger, /pol/ has had a corona-chan general since China's death toll was in the low double digits and the media was crying that restricting travel was racist. Fin media has been trying to get stupid goyim to buy the (((elites))) bags since Feb 20. If you believe this is 'just a flu' you're a smooth brain. If you believe the media hasn't been doing everything in it's power to down play this, you're smooth brain

I realize you're a salty little faggot that's down a cunt instead of being massively up because you didn't pay attention, but that's no reason to stick your head in the sand

Corona-chan is 20-100x as lethal as the flu, and more contagious

>don't think you're terribly well informed
So you ACTUALLY think the PPT Pump Train Express is organic? Holy shit bro! Seriously, Look. At. The. Charts.

>n-no it's can't be the gov blatantly manipulating the market! i-it's just day traders closing out!
Always up, always? They're also clearly targeting "emotional" numbers, trying not to have -1000 days, sub 3000 S&P etc, or on Weds hitting EXACTLY the pt loss from Tues

Pump Train Express started service Monday, going to ride it till this crashes, or they stop fucking with the market. But I repeat myself.

>but the weather will stop the spread!
SARS, which was orders of magnitude less contagious, peaked in April-May. Even if we're lucky and the weather does substantially reduce spread, we're still looking at 2-3 months before it does.
>b-but muh vaccine!
Coronaviruses are tricky wickets, they can hide in neurons and expose does not confer long term immunity. A vaccine is no less than a year off, and more of an If than a When.

SARS peaked late April, and was far far less contagious. The economic effects of Corona Chan will be felt for the next year at least

Threadly reminder that sober epidemiologist estimates are 60% of Earth will be infected with Corona Chan if we fail to contain

Threadly reminder that we have failed to contain

Threadly reminder that Death Princess has a 1% mortality rate with world class care and 100% identification of infected and no exceptionally sick or old. E.g. 1.0% is the bedrock minimum mortality rate

Threadly reminder this is 33x the rate of even abnormally bad seasonal flu

Threadly reminder there will likely be no vaccine:
>Immunity against coronaviruses appears to be short-lived. Epidemiologic studies of coronavirus infection have demonstrated high reinfection rates. In human volunteer experiments, infection with a 229E-like coronavirus only induced effective immunity short-term because rechallenge with homotypic virus, the 229E serotype, resulted in infection and illness. In addition, under certain circumstances, vaccines against animal coronaviruses have led to enhanced disease
