If we go complete mad max and never recover from it then yes you're right. But more likely we either will soft-collapse and hitch right up to PMs without having cities burn to the ground, or we will hard collapse but recover to some kind of stable system of exchange after a while.

In my mind, I can swap out a few % of my LINK stack for an amount of shiny metal that will surpass what 99% of other humans will ever own, while still retaining LINK stack greater than what 99% of humans will ever own. It seems like a good trade to me.
