I know modern supercomputers and weather stations and shit have improved hurricane forecasting. There's probably a similar effect improving the accuracy of expected temperatures. Hence shit like 10 day forecasts.

Supercomputers and satellites count for a lot in terms of "where shit'll go in the next week". Obviously they whiffed totally on anticipating this year as being "above average" for hurricane count but lol climate forecasting.
