Yeah, definitely agree on the micro-influencers. I follow some accounts with relatively few followers (10k-50k) that do ridiculously good engagement numbers because their followers are so damn dedicated.

I've got about 21k followers, 100% organic. I feel like a lot of them are inactive accounts or just not very dedicated, and I don't have much growth either (lots of follows/unfollows, but the total number of followers hardly ever creeps up, over the past year or so). Sales are good, but our engagement isn't where it should be at all with that amount of followers. Still, I've always managed better results just by being extremely active on social media, vs. ads on either IG or FB. Maybe I missed the FB boat (started the business in 2016).

Getting off on a tangent there about general frustration with social media, but anyway, fuck Facebook. I wouldn't use IG or Twitter either if I didn't have to for my business.

Fear not, friend. I was just like you at one point, and I fixed it. I started saying one exta sentence to the cashier until I got comfortable, then I would say one more sentence.

That's all you gotta do. It's not about being engaging or interesting yet, it's about building up your tolerance. Try joining a sport, or join a gym. It's tough now with Covid, but Duolingo has meetups in lots of different cities, if you are near one, you should go and just try to talk to people. I promise you'll get better if you put in the effort. Alternatively, you can spend 10 minutes playing out an intereaction with someone in your head at night - think of everything you would say, and everything they would say - positive visualization they call it. Pro Athletes do it with their sport, why not with skills you want to learn?

Remember that it is called Social SKILLS, not Social Instinct. It's a skill you need to practice. It will greatly enhance your life if you have some real world friends
