Recently got some extra cash from a relative passing out (F) so I decided that I want to invest that into the stock market.
this will be a 1st for me. so I dont know what to prioritize. stocks with growth potential to sell at higher price later. or stocks to keep based on their Dividends???

so buttcoin has been bouncing around 8.5 and 10k for the last few days so i thought id just day trade since is basically buy and wait

ive been doing this and turned a ~200 dollars but around 11am est some fucker dumped and the price went under 9k, and im stuck with btc until it goes back to 9.3k (where i bought and thought it was going to go to like 9,7 but then the dump)

and yeah i tried doing btc to shitcoin to increase my stack but since shitcoins follow btc its fucking impossible and a very scary experience desu

am i doing it wrong

Why is it that it's almost 2018 and investing in stock isn't as simple as downloading an app and choosing where you want your money to go? Fuck brokers

as it says in the title i am relatively new to investing and buying stock.

I have a government TFSA in Canada as i am a leaf, and it seems i am able to buy stocks with my TFSA but the savings account on my TFSA has a yearly 4000$ limit. i have saved money in my savings account over the years and i have a few thousand.

I know that i ought to buy low and sell high, buy stocks with a beta below 1 and avoid a high beta, i could buy collectibles that will go up in value like stamps, and while i am young and i can afford to take a risk while i go to collage i should invest in high risk stocks and avoid bonds.

Where do you suggest i invest my money? someone suggested i invest into large ETFs after i fill out the limits of my savings account. What do the oldfags suggest? /biz/

I want to learn to invest. Ive been watching a bunch of videos and doing some reading but I want to educate myself more.

What would be some recommended reads or videos to watch?

Also, when I begin I will only have roughly $500 or so to play with since I am still a student. Any recommendations as to what type I invest in? (Crypto, stocks, real estate, etc.)
I want to make a little bit more money so that I can dump it into long/medium term, while keeping some for short term

For some time I've been wanting to buy some stock. The only problem is I have no idea where or how to start.
Anyone with some getting started tips?
I wanted to try with Robin Hood but I'm not from the US so i can't use it.
