Parents asked me to help them invest $50k thats been sitting in the bank for 10 years. Its not chump change to them, but their future doesn't depend on it either. 5-10 year horizon.

I'm thinking 20k on stock picks, 20k on an index and 10k on bonds. Not planning to actively manage it, just check up every couple of weeks and keeping an eye on the news. Sound like a good plan? Feel like the timing is bad to step in, is 5-10 years enough to ignore that feeling?
