anon geopolitics, containing GEO, has to to with the politics of location. Ie, resources are distributed differently across the Earth.

As such, it all goes back to Oil, the most important resource (obvi not as important as water and air but those two literally fall from the skk...)

A good primer on Geopolitics is Mackinder's Thesis of the Heartland. Whoever controls the Heartland, controls the world, and it appears much politics in the 18th, 19th, 20th centuries has to do with taking "the heartland" of Eurasia, often called "The Great Game" by British imperialists. Now that england sucks again, we still play "the great game" but it has to do w Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran now.

Ask me anything I love geopolitics.

Oh, and I'm a MS in finance too, but since the finance stuff doesnt have much to do w land or resources beyond $$ and power, "finance geopolitics" just devolves into regular politics.

Can any hardcore arm chair economists tell what happens if a nation simultaneously:

1. Lacks an independent monetary policy
2. Lacks stable exchange rates
3. Lacks any international capital controls
