It's not. The real catch 22 of the stock market is that it's effectively an institutional ponzi scheme.

Very rarely will enough stock ever be out to actually affect ownership even if you had the money to do so. Even worse, management will actively resist the takeover and most corporations are designed to resist it... not even to mention things like share classes. Likewise, most stocks have adopted a growth model; there will be no dividends, only the chance to sell it later for a higher price.

Most institutions don't actually do that beyond their first IPO. So, the board can issue more stock. Which will reduce the price of their current stock. Effectively, the board is costing themselves money as individuals. Simultaneously, it'll also piss off their shareholders.

It's starting to collapse here in Canada too, in Saskatchewan the average house was 360k back in 2016 and now 290k, still way overvalued IMO. Sales in Toronto and Vancouver have fallen off a cliff and prices are in free fall in the far away suburbs with long ass commutes
