I don't trust any government right now to make that move. Maybe I'm being a doomer but it's more likely they'll start working towards a system where money doesn't exist, you just have a social credit system and your mandatory implant will be your wallet. They way governments are pitted against their population lately, I don't see them ever giving away any power to their citizens in the form of wealth or anything. They'll just keep turning us more and more into cattle, and when the right moment comes, when the chaos is out of hand, they'll take away your final rights and install a two cast system, the peasant masses and the ruling elite. I give it 50 years before freedom is dead and we all live and work in sweatshops holding on for dear life at the whims of the tyrannical regime, and the moment you disobey your social credit is frozen which means no access to food or shelter and you get to beg in the streets, hiding from indoctrinated state funded death squads enforcing curfew or be dragged into a prison camp.
