Most PM recovery methods will involve trying to dissolve gold, plat, or palladium into concentrated HCl and HNO3, the latter of which releases toxic NOx gases when it reacts. You then filter the solids out, and the metal rich acid solution is hit with some strong reducer like a metabisulfate salt to crash out the PM as a powder, which you can then filter, wash, and remelt. I've seen some people use a milder method of getting gold foil contacts off of PCBs using salt, an air bubbler, and H2O2, but that's about it.

Basically, you'll never break even after you go and buy up a bunch of pins/capactiors, get the hardward and chemicals to refine it, and deal with the wastes you make in the process. Oh, and you're probably going to give yourself brain cancer from the fumes too. The best approach is to just scrap stuff for fun, and maybe flip it to some aspiring youtube chemist.
