The ID token is needed for unique utilities that Everest will be offering crosschain into any Dapp. The project won't be limited to only Ethereum, it's going cross-chain and bridging TradFi <-> DeFi and has it's own chain(s) is the best answer to 'Why not use ETH' besides the funding needed.
