nah

1. they wouldn't
2. if they did, China would just say "STFU lol"
3. they have no power projection to enforce such a thing
4. America wouldn't back them up
no one in the West (citizens or politicians) is interested in a real confrontation with China over HK sovereignty.

Xinjang and Tibet are different. It isn't real urban unrest with Han Chinese like HK is (right?).
The motivations and demographics of the HK protestors is different and will be more closely aligned with any future (hypothetical) civic unrest that China experiences. And even if internet sites and apps are banned, clever students can find a way around it. China is basically having a shakedown cruise of their current surveillance technology in the HK protests to allow further development for the future. To make sure they have an even more complete control over their citizens.

It's just my opinion. But when I think it over, it is the most likely reason (by far) why the HK protests were started and have continued the way they are.
There are added bonuses of shaking out any CIA/international influence agents that are in HK now, instead of later.
