> PoS as a sybil resistance
I think you'll find that anycompetentattacker can disguise their attacks well enough that community cannot be certain if they're witnessing an attack or not. Assuming that an "attack" is readily identifiable as an "attack", and that it's somehow entirely objective, is a pretty bad assumption to make, as well.

Some considered the DAO fork to be an "attack" of sorts. Some did not. Regardless of whether or not it was, it's an important lesson on the subjectivity inperceptionof attacks. Saying things like "Ethereum can fork" is amassiveunderstatement of the difficulty of it doing so. Decentralization comes with huge coordination costs that scale exponentially with the number of actors involved.

Unless, of course, you'realsoassuming that "it can just fork" really just means "the core developers can just fork", in which case yeah, it's probably actually that easy.

you should read vitalik's blog about why proof of stake
