>as if FPGAs and GPU mining are any better.
But they are? The free market is at play for GPU miners but that's not the case at all for ASICs made by (and mined on) by one or two Chinese/Russian companies that will use them for a year and then only reveal that they even exist when they're on the cusp of becoming inefficient.

Also seriously how much work is it to fork to Cryptonight v8? Just fucking copy Monero's algorithm. There is no reason for Dero to be ASIC friendly unless the devs are seriously bagholding a bunch of old Cryptonight ASIC hardware, especially because supposedly it can't be 51% attacked. So what gives?

Pic related.

I also mainly do CPU mining, but my disadvantage is that I have to pay for electricity (got a good rate tho). 1280x 32 core blade servers, expanding with 1200 GPUs and 280 Phi nodes at the end of the month. But falling prices since dec have been tough.

Yes, even if the CPU based miners are a cheaper initial investment, with the difficulty increase and time spent mining GPU has better return. Thankfully I got my facility deemed as industrial power usage so paying $0.02/kwh.

I did.

Can fit 1200 racks, but I only have 30 running mining. Will add more in January.

I bought parts of old super computers that had been leased to build a large CPU mining cluster for monero. $114k in hardware gave me ~71k AMD opteron cores. Currently hashing at ~2m h/s, which translates at current dif. rating to 990 coins per month, or $175k/m.

However, any new hashing power added will be GPU based as it draws a lot less power, even tho I'll have to pay twice in hardware per hash for GPUs, it works out over time. I'm using the excess heat of the mining to heat up the complex ("free heating") but there is only so much I can use before it gets too hot ;)

Row 1-3 is the servers mining monero. Will replace the 4th row racks with full sized for future expansion of monero mining. Also bought fiber cables to replace the cat5-6 spaghetti monster behind every rack.
