Consider that the US military will not enlist anybody with an IQ below 83, because there is literally no job a person that unintelligent can do that doesn't result in a net negative balance. The military has 120 years of data on this, and while it's illegal for corporations to use IQ data swing with workers, that isn't the case for government. Universities are merely IQ filters, or at least they used to be until affirmative action and diversity initiatives killed much of that function. A simple IQ test is more functional as an indicator of worker viability than a college degree, it is just that it is illegal for employers to use IQ tests, so they use as close a proxy as they can (some, like Google, disregard degrees and have their own application testing that is so highly correlated with IQ it is only matter of government ineptitude/corruption that it hasn't been prosecuted). For a minority of degrees, there is useful purpose in going to college.

All true my frens. But it isn't right, and it isn't good for you. I've basically just stopped contact with my last highschool friend who has bad mental health problems. After 10 years it stops being worth it to pour effort into a vessel that never gives you anything in return. All hope is not lost though. I too have deepened family bonds, nothing is more important. I do good deeds for my parents, sibling and to extended family who I know have a record of giving back as well. We are cooperative animals, not having that cooperation is poison for your spirit. I also have found new friends in odd places, my best new friends are mostly older guys who have made it to their 60's with theit shit still together (I'm in my 30's), maybe divorced maybe never married, and I genuinely help them out and they genuinely help me out. A lot of these guys have real wisdom of skills they are willing to give to you freely for as little as loaning them some extra muscle to help them move shit around. Be a worthwhile person to the right people and they will become worthwhile members of your tribe. It's made me 10s of thousands of dollars and given me deeper connection to community.
