unironically just short volatility spikes. use the VIX for signals. you are looking for a VIX in the 30-50 range, the closer to 40-50 the better. back test it if you don't believe me. main thing you have to do is not go all-in, you need to be able to handle margin requirements in case a black swan happens, but the last two black swans were 12 years apart (2008 and 2020), and we just had one with covid last year, so it's very safe as long as you're not an idiot. otherwise it's free money because it literally, LITERALLY always goes down. it is rigged to go down.

no, you short volatility, you never long it. idk how many times i have you tell you faggots this: https://sixfigureinvesting.com/2016/10/is-shorting-uvxy-tvix-vxx-the-perfect-trade/

all you really have to do is either buy puts or have enough capital to cover a black swan event, because it will ALWAYS go down, forever. forever, anon, do you understand what in contango is? no, you don't. you're a retard, i know this. you see this chart? you don't long this chart.

VXX/UVXY, but you're not supposed to long it because it's rigged to go down. literally just read this and learn to short the spikes up: https://sixfigureinvesting.com/2016/10/is-shorting-uvxy-tvix-vxx-the-perfect-trade/

the shit is literally rigged to go down forever. all you really have to do is make sure you can always handle margin in case of a black swan but even if you literally shorted the bottom just before covid if you could handle not getting margin called and just fucking waited you'd make money eventually, guaranteed. and covid is something you could have known about well in advance and only happens once in a decade if even that, i.e. almost never.

i've tried teaching anons about this a couple of times already and it never ceases to amaze me how you fucks keep doing that. literally just read this and learn that you short the spikes and have enough collateral to cover SHTF (which only gets up to like 70-80 on the VIX, i think during the covid crash the VXX got up to around 70 max) and cover when it stabilizes.

the VXX is safer. i don't like shorting vs. leverage.

if you REALLY want to play volatility, like if you REALLY REALLY want to play volatility, you don't long it. you short it. https://sixfigureinvesting.com/2016/10/is-shorting-uvxy-tvix-vxx-the-perfect-trade/

the question is: why gamble on longing it when you can literally just wait for it to potentially go up a lot, and then short it? it's RIGGED to go down. literally R I G G E D to go down. i don't play it very often because you have to spread out your potential DCA'ing of it to handle margin calls, but as long as you can handle margin calls you can literally just short and hodl and you are guaranteed to make profit because volatility is a mean-reverting phenomenon.

>bought VXX calls

this is quite possibly the dumbest thing i've heard in my entire life. the thing is literally rigged via in contango to go down. the play is to short spikes on the thing and be able to handle margin requirements if it ever gets over 70 (which has only happened twice in 30 fucking years btw). then you can literally just hold even if you're down for awhile, it is guaranteed to go down. GUARANTEED to go down. because it's volatility and it's a mean reverting phenomenon.

like holy fucking shit dude

it's not the vix it's the vxx. believe me i fucking WISH you could directly trade the vix i'd make a killing, the vxx is close enough and rigged to benefit shorts anyways.

you mostly just need to be able to set up your capital in such a way that you can handle it going up to in the 70-80 range if we have another apocalyptic scenario like covid, which is unlikely to happen for another decade. as long as that's the case it literally always goes down, high volatility is never sustainable. i DCA in at certain points during spikes and scale out on the way down, typically always holding on to 100 shares in case there are longer periods of calm. the vix and vxx are not the same thing exactly, though, feel free to research it yourself: https://sixfigureinvesting.com/2016/10/is-shorting-uvxy-tvix-vxx-the-perfect-trade/

im prepared to short it up to 70 and im pretty sure if a covid-tier apocalypse style event comes up i can adjust where i buy in accordingly. here have this nice chart. learn what in contango means. high volatility is literally always temporary.

how many times do i have to keep posting this, anon? https://old.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/gd3nri/the_psychology_of_fear_why_a_big_gay_short_isnt/fpfexwj/

today is Sept. 9th. Sept. 14th is monday. feel free to delude yourself but if you get bogged don't say you weren't warned. you want something to play long term, try shorting the VXX it's ripe for the picking right now and probably will give even more opportunities as we approach election. just be sure however you play it that you can handle margin requirements up to around 80 (during the covid crash it maxed out at 78.54 because the game is literally rigged due to in contango for VXX to always be dropping, it's great)
