Found the beta zoomer who’s wife has to call somebody to replace a fucking toilet plunger

The main cost of car repairs is labor. Parts are cheap, and even cheaper if you are ok with using non Oem shit from rock auto

Some comparisons from a couple jobs I recently did for household vehicles

>vw dsg service at the dealer
600
>doing it my self including special tool purchase and fluid + 1hr if my time
240

>Subaru Sti secondary air valve failure repair
1000+
>diy including block off plate + 3hr of my time
20

>rebuilding 16g turbo done at a rebuild shop
300-350
>rebuilding it myself
70 for the kit and 1 hour of time

Shit is even easier now on modern cars as you have a computer doing the diagnosis for you. Even purchasing speciality tools needed for more complex shit ends up being cheaper, and you accumulate a proper tool collection as time passes. The problem is how the modern brain works. Boomers all had a basic mechanical understanding that can be applied to ANYTHING. Zoomers totally lack this part of their brain.
