I work as an engineer in the DoD. We're getting a permanent telework option by the end of January, up to the discretion of our supervisor. My supervisor's pretty chill and we have high productivity (a few years ahead of industry), so hopefully we'll get to try it out. I should only be in the lab twice a week or so anyways, the rest of my job can easily be done remotely.

I honestly don't even mind work, I like it even - I just hate feeling rushed in the morning and commuting somewhere, as well as the feeling that my time is being wasted when I don't have something immediate to work on. If I were at home, I could stay productive by working on other things as well.

Social programs for boomers and gen x'ers that couldn't be assed to have enough children, which in turn resulted in the importation of millions of brown people, who in turn also ended up mooching off of said social programs. I was born in '97, and as a young kid I watched older movies taking place in France and the UK. There was something enchanting about it for me, I can't explain why. I even used to pretend I was French in grade school. I had a difficult upbringing and for whatever reason I thought France and co. were these enlightened high societies, and I was captivated by them.

As I grew a bit older, when I reached high school I started to notice how shitty American cities are. Filled to the brim with third worlders. I started to really hate black people around the early 2010s, when I saw the Trayvon Martin, Ferguson, etc riots. I told myself that I'd work hard and eventually live in some advanced European country. Mind you, this was clearly all child's folly. I guess that internally I was looking for a life that I never had.

As I started reading more about politics and economics, collecting paychecks, and doing my best to keep up with current events, I realized that France and co. are headed down a route worse than the US. In the US, we at least have children. Towards the end of my life, if these countries don't reverse course, they won't exist anymore. And not only will they be filled with people from brown shitholes, but you'll be paying higher taxes on top of it.

I'm a successful man now, I'm /fit/ and work a high-paying engineering job while DCA'ing into crypto. I have zero interest in visiting a future shithole like France. Maybe it was different when I was a kid, but when I have children France as we once knew it will be long gone. None of this is to say that the US isn't on a similar course, but at least we have ample land and lower taxes.
