Why the fuck is the cost of starting a new business these days so fucking high? It's like western governments don't want anyone other then the already uber wealthy to even TRY to start something new.

I am in Australia and here are some costs just to get a business up and running to sell a product. Here re some numbers that I have been having to deal with just to have a fucking warehouse to sell pieces of wood.

The initial investments:

>Forklift

>Office fitout and other minor purchases such as laptop, printer, phones etcc.

>Inventory of product
$50-$100k
>Warehouse racking to store it
$20k
>Other things such as tools, packaging etc

>Basic marketing such as product photos, fliers etc
$3k

>Mandatory testing of product to the Australian Standards which MUST be done by an specific accredited laboratory
>Product properties to test they product contains what you claim it does
$5k-$10k
>Product fire testing
$2k per test for the basic ones. $10k+ for the detailed ones
>Product Engineering tests
>To test it can withstand what you claim it can under certain conditions
$10k-$15k
>Product testing to confirm the green rating of the product and that the source is from a sustainable place

Just to even get things going I'm looking at around around $150,000 AUD. This is assuming there isn't a single fuck up along the way. Then there is the ongoing costs which doesn't even include the salary of a single employee.

I started my own business which imports specially plywoods which I now stock. These are used for furniture and joinery. In my country they still do this all by hand and nobody sells them pre-made and off the shelf so I thought this would be ripe for profit. I just can't meet the right people to start implementing this product into their designs and manufacturing cycles. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NETWORK AND MEET THE RIGHT PEOPLE?!
