If you make a paper wallet, you have to make sure it’s safe and you copied the private key correctly. If you use ledger, you have to make sure your stick doesn’t die. if you leave coins on an exchange, the exchange might rug.

air gapped paper wallet is the best, but you need to make sure your private key is correct and safe. Also you need to copy the private key to a hot wallet and then it becomes vulnerable.
