>banks are suspicious and are not lending money to each other
that's a fresh take, I've never heard that, is that something you've heard someone else saying or something you came up with?

The banks doing the repo operation (on the consuming end of the fedbucks) should have been able to up their cash reserves by now, it's already been almost a month. I don't think other banks would be averse to lending to them; the collateral they're giving the fed is T-bills, so why wouldn't other banks accept those in an inter-bank loan?

There has to be something else going on, but I'm not seeing the whole picture. There is some level where we can't actually see the day-to-day balance sheets of the banks involved in the repo operation. I'm not sure if they have to show the fed to get the repobucks (prove that they actually have a shortfall) or not.

you know, a few weeks ago when this thing started everyone was in a panic. My opinion stated on /smg/ at the time was "it's fine, it's a normal operation, we should only be concerned if it continues".
And now that the operations are continuing, I think some people are becoming complacent and unconcerned when they see the headlines. Unfortunately we don't know how concerned we should be (from any outside perspective), so I'm going to probably be on the cautious side and look to pack up some positions. If these banks want cash badly enough to be paying however many basis points above the base rate overnight, maybe I should be holding some cash as well.
