Ngl seeing Monero-chan was a big part of what made me buy crypto for the first time. I had been watching bitcoin on and off for several years beforehand but it didn't move past idle curiosity until I started lurking /xmr/, getting convinced by the arguments and saving every Monero-chan I could find (there were a lot fewer in those days). Having a cute anthropomorphized avatar serves as a concretization of XMR's underlying ideas and principles - it's great to fight for private, permissionless, sound electronic cash, but it feels a lot easier to fight for Monero-chan.
