I'm not sure about the broader real estate market, but I do think the government is LIKELY too incompetent to prevent a lot of margin calls for the REITs, which is why I'm still holding some DRV. Not enough though, I exited too much of my short positions today.

Yeah that's a part of the thesis, but really it's that these properties are bought on margin and if the property drops in value enough that the bank deems it no longer worth enough to be sufficient collateral then they'll call in the loan and the REIT is liquidated.

Or something like that? Someone help me out here?
